    They are rock solid. They are a little louder than cane and ezeedrones, but those take more air, are not nearly as steady, user friendly, or easy to play.

    I’ve just received two of Justin’s reeds and I’m very impressed with the quality. They are scraped evenly on both sides and not scraped too thin. The lips are perfectly even, and the sides are as parallel as you can get with a very air-tight seal. The main thing is, they play in-tune throughout the scale in both octaves and I didn’t even have to send him one of my chanters. The price is right as well.

  • I am DELIGHTED with this reed!

    I’ve got the reed in as far as it will easily go, have lightened the bridle a toich, and it’s still about 2 cents under, with Makoto’s bete noir 2nd octave F# EXACTLY where he wants it to be (-10) to sing with the drones. OMG, I’m not sharp! This is AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Put them in glass spheres

    I tie flys for fishing. Some people view flies as art so much so that they actually put them in glass spheres just to look at, never intending to get them wet. This could be said about your reeds. Beautiful work, very impressed. What a difference. Higher octaves easier sustain easier and lots less pressure to play. Before it was a workout. I mean it felt like lifting weights, bag pressure constant pumping of the bellows. Thank you, Justin.

  • I really like the reed

    I really like the reed and it seems to suit my Adrian Jefferies (06′) chanter really well. It’s perfect-your bridle works really well, as well as a very nice tone. The great thing about your reed is it doesn’t break on the back D in my chanter .

Quality set of tenor, baritone and bass drone reeds for uilleann bagpipes, featuring brass bodies and styrene tongues. Well balanced, easy to tune, full-bodied tone. Brass body and styrene tongue eases the frustration of reeds closing up or adjusting with humidity/temperature changes. They are literally plug-and-play, and when tuned with each other they lock in and stay in tune with variations in pressure.

FAQ:

Q: How do they compare to Eezee drone reeds?

A: Way better. In more objective terms, brighter, not muddy like the Eezee drone reeds. Often I find the Eezee drone reeds to not balance well in many uilleann pipe drones—going out of tune with each other, phasing (beating), or gurgling octaves.

Q: How do you fine tune them?

A: I encourage using the tuning slides, or inserting the reed in the reed seat appropriately. Generally the reeds are very much plug and play. When necessary, you can adjust the tongue binding very slightly up or down.

Q: Do they tune in flat sets?

A: Yes, and quite well at that.
