Music is the art of listening

Justin Rosander

Composer for Film, TV and games

I grew up in Gillette, WY, nestled in the prairie grasslands of the Thunder Basin between the Black Hills of Northeast Wyoming and the Bighorn Mountains. Growing up in this area of course one gets exposed to a lot of country music, like Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams (and Jr.), Waylon Jennings, and others. Being a child of the 80s I was captured by the sounds of rock and pop music on the radio, the dawn of MTV, the rise of epic blockbuster movies scored by the greats like John Williams and James Horner.

I learned to play music from a young age, taking up piano at the age of 7, moving on to playing saxophone, then learning guitar at the age of 14. I was especially drawn to the guitar playing of Eddie Van Halen, and other greats such as Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.

It is from these greats that I draw inspiration and motivation. Music tells a story, evokes a mood, asks the “why” in our human challenges and provides a connection to each other and the stories we tell. I therefore present myself at your service to tell the music of your story. I offer the following samples for your enjoyment. For licensing inquiries, please contact me and we will connect to make that story a reality together.
